A Long Time Coming

In a few days I'll be jetting off for Florida for the purpose of visiting my sister in West Palm Beach. She's been employed as an elementary school teacher down there since last summer. I'll be joined in this excursion by one of my cousins from Illinois. He's on Spring Break, and we are both flying down for an extended weekend.

I have to admit, I'm feeling a little trepidation about this. I haven't taken a proper vacation in quite a while. In fact, due to a change in the rules at work, I had to take a payout of vacation hours last December because I had too much vacation time to carry over. You could say my vacation last year was to my desk at work. Depressing, I know, but I just never really feel the desire to pack up and go. During my childhood and into the college years, I almost always went on a family vacation. I really did enjoy those trips, and I think a big part of it was just going along for the ride. When it comes down to planning something myself, I usually punt on it and keep on with the daily grind. In this particular instance, my sister had to basically tell me when and where. All I have to do is show up. I'd say that I'll return with a slew of nice pictures, but I've never really gotten around to buying myself a digital camera and I'm not inclined to borrow one from work. Maybe I can get my sister to send me a photo or three.
